Sexism Combatted in Nursery Schools

On the premise that sexist attitudes are inculcated at an early age, the Education Ministry has banned story books from nursery schools which depict girls as weaker than boys, passive, and dependent on boys to rescue them from difficulties.

Haaretz reported that a Ministry directive has advised nursery school teachers not to tell tearful boys that they are crying “like girls.” According to Shimshon Shoshani, Director General of the Education Ministry, “girls in all stages of education achieve less than boys and the reasons are educational and social, not biological.”
