Authorities in Leningrad and Minsk will permit the establishment of a Jewish culture club in each city, and a Leningrad synagogue has received permission to offer religious lessons, it was reported by the National Conference on Soviet Jewry. The locations of the culture clubs have not yet been announced, but the designated religion instructor has been identified as an elder of the synagogue. The NCSJ welcomed this announcement and said that along with the granting of exit visas, the Soviets are taking a meaningful step in the right direction.
