Chancellor Helmut Kohl, in his strongest public statement on the Nazi era, called the Holocaust a crime “unprecedented in history” which cannot be forgotten. The comments came during a luncheon for Israeli President Chaim Herzog, the first Israeli head of state to visit Germany.
