Imre Finta, a Hungarian-born Canadian accused of war crimes in Hungary, Austria and Poland during World War II, won a postponement of a preliminary hearing in federal court here Wednesday. It was put off until Jan. 20, because Finta hired a new lawyer, Douglas Christie.
Finta is the first Canadian to face prosecution under the amended criminal code, which allows Canadian courts to try suspected war criminals for crimes committed on foreign soil.
