Israeli air force planes raided terrorist targets in the Sidon area of southern Lebanon on Tuesday, according to reports from Beirut.
The raid was the 13th on Palestine Liberation Organization targets in Lebanon since the beginning of they year.
According to the reports, the targets included the building housing the PLO radio station, which was completely destroyed by air-to-surface missiles, a camp run by the A1 Fatah wing of the PLO, and the local headquarters of George Habash’s Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and Nayef Hawatme’s Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
At least 12 people were killed or injured in the attack, carried out by six planes during a two-hour period. Ambulances were reported to be rushing to the area, and the local radio appealed for blood donations.
The PLO radio station was set up six months ago, with the announced aim of broadcasting instructions to Palestinians involved in the uprising in the administered territories.
But it devoted most of its air time to broadcasting slogans, playing popular marches and speaking about the independent Palestinian state the PLO hopes to establish.
