The cost-of-living index rose by 1.7 percent in February, the central bureau of statistics announced Wednesday.

The increase was slightly higher than the 1.5 percent anticipated, but was nevertheless welcomed as an indication that the economy was reaching stability.

The rise was partly an offshoot of the devaluation carried out at the beginning of the year, but was kept down by the continuation of seasonal sales of clothing and footwear.
