Yuli Kosharovsky, a former refusenik who made aliyah three months ago, was appointed his week as special adviser on Soviet Jewry issues to the Jewish Agency by Simcha Dinitz, chairman of the Jewish Agency-World Zionist Organization Executive.

Kosharovsky will deal with the different cultural and educational programs initiated by the Jewish Agency in the Soviet Union.

He will also Advise the Agency in all areas concerning the absorption of Soviet Jewry in Israel.

Kosharovsky was among the recipients of the Jewish Agency’s Jerusalem Prize for Religious Education in the Diaspora given by President Chaim Herzog on Wednesday.

Among other recipients of the prize was Dr. Ze’ev Dashevsky, who is still a refusenik, and Britain’s chief rabbi, Lord Immanuel Jakobovits, who was not present at the ceremony due to illness.
