Three soldiers and at least three Palestinians were wounded Thursday in a hand grenade attack on a mobile army unit patrolling the town of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip.

The soldiers were slightly wounded by the grenade’s shrapnel that ricocheted off their jeep. Three passers-by were wounded as well.

Security forces immediately closed off the area and began a wide search for the attackers.

Eyewitnesses reported that following the grenade attack, which took place at 11:30 a.m., soldiers began shooting, wounding 15 passers-by. There was no immediate official confirmation to that report.
