El AI flights to Stockholm have been suspended because security measures at the Swedish airport no longer satisfy El Al’s stringent standards, the Transportation Ministry announced Wednesday.
Transportation Minister Moshe Katsav decided to halt the twice-weekly flights from Tel Aviv after the Swedish authorities made changes affecting El Al’s security procedures at Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport, a ministry statement said.
Katsav notified the Swedish foreign minister of the suspension, in a letter conveyed by the Israeli ambassador in Stockholm.
But he said it would be rescinded if the Swedish authorities restore the security situation to the state which prevailed when El Al inaugurated its Stockholm service in March 1989.
