Peace activist Abie Nathan pleaded guilty Tuesday to meeting Palestine Liberation Organization leader Yasir Arafat in Tunis in May, in violation of Israeli law banning contacts with terrorist organizations.

Nathan, who appeared in district court here, has been free on bail since May 16, when he was arrested at Ben-Gurion Airport upon returning from the Tunisian capital.

At that time, he had recently completed six months of an 18-month prison sentence for an earlier meeting with PLO leaders. Twelve months of his sentence were suspended.

Nathan now faces a four-year term. He could be sentenced to three years for his most recent meeting with Arafat and forced to serve the suspended portion of his earlier sentence.
