Israel and Jordan’s ambassadors officially took up their posts on Monday. At a ceremony at the president’s residence in Jerusalem, Marwan Muasher, Jordan’s first ambassador to Israel, presented his credentials to President Ezer Weizman.
Muasher, 39, also took the opportunity to denounce Sunday’s violence.
“We certainly condemn this terror act in the strongest possible terms,” he said. “We feel the only way to counter this is an acceleration of the peace process, by trying to achieve a successful settlement on all fronts so we can have a durable peace.”
In Amman, Shimon Shamir, Israel’s ambassador to Jordan, formally presented his credentials to Crown Prince Hassan, who was filling in for King Hussein in his absence.
