An English translation of the Torah is now available on America Online.

Jewish Community Online, a location on the online service, last week became added the well-known 1962 translation of the Five Books of Moses from the Jewish Publication Society to its site.

The translation is available on AOL at keyword: Jewish.

“AOL members can go to keyword: Jewish to find just about anything Jewish. But until now, they couldn’t find our most sacred text” on AOL, said Klein, the publisher of the Jewish location and the editor and publisher of the Jewish Bulletin of Northern California.

The online version of the Torah is currently available by chapter; users are eventually expected to be able to access the weekly portions of the Torah as well.

At least one other translation of the Torah is available online. It can be accessed through the American ORT Web site at bible.ort.org
