Sen. Alfonse D’Amato (R-N.Y.) challenged the Clinton administration and U.S. lawmakers “to give more than lip service” when it comes to punishing Palestinians accused of killing Americans. At a news conference organized by the Zionist Organization of America, the senator suggested that the United States set a deadline for Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to extradite terrorists involved in the deaths of 11 American citizens. Failure to comply, D’Amato said, should result in a suspension of U.S. financial aid to the Palestinian Authority.
