U.S. Middle East envoy Dennis Ross will likely remain in the region at least through the weekend to advance Israeli-Palestinian talks, an Israeli official said. Ross called his talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “useful” after he emerged from a meeting with the premier. A U.S. official said Ross will soon start drafting an agreement on a further Israeli redeployment in the West Bank, as efforts continue to reach consensus on the steps the Palestinian Authority will take on security issues.
