Southern Baptist leaders in the United States are calling on members to pray that Jews will convert to Christianity during the High Holidays. A prayer guide distributed by the Southern Baptist International Mission Board in Richmond, Va., urges Baptists to “pray for Jewish individuals you know by name.” Some Jewish officials described the call as arrogant and offensive.
