Daniel Elazar, a leading authority on Israel and the world Jewish community, died at 65. The author and editor of dozens of books, Elazar founded and was president of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, a think tank focused on issues facing world Jewry. He was also director of the Center for the Study of Federalism at Temple University in Philadelphia.
