Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat told French President Jacques Chirac that he hopes the European Union would do everything possible to advance Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. Arafat met in Paris with Chirac on Saturday, when France took over the E.U.’s rotating presidency for the next six months.
