France honored a Nazi hunter with the nation’s highest award. Serge Klarsfeld, whose books were among the first to recount France’s role in the deportation of Jews during World War II, was named an officer of the Legion of Honor. Klarsfeld is “a man who is deeply committed to justice, a tireless human rights advocate,” President Jacques Chirac said at a ceremony Tuesday.
