Israeli opposition leader Ariel Sharon said he would make concessions for peace with the Palestinians, but nonetheless staked out positions that the Palestinian Authority has already rejected in negotiations. “A government under my leadership will keep Jerusalem, the capital of Israel and the Jewish people, whole and united under Israeli sovereignty forever,” Sharon said.
