Move over, apple: A persimmon a day keeps the doctor away. A group of Hebrew University researchers comparing the health benefits of the two fruits found that persimmons are better at reducing the risk of heart disease and strokes. Compared with apples, persimmons contain a significantly higher concentration of dietary fiber, minerals, anti-oxidants and trace elements, all of which play a role in combating the clogging of arteries.
