U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell called continued Israeli- Palestinian violence “very disturbing” and called on the two sides to agree to a cease- fire. “The cycle of violence continues to go upward,” he told CNN. “We keep appealing to both sides to be restrained, to not use violence as a way of solving the problems that exist in the region.”
