The U.S. State Department is calling comments by a senior Israeli government official, who suggested that Israeli security forces kill the families of Palestinian suicide bombers, “offensive and reprehensible.” A State Department spokesman said he expected Israeli officials “would take immediate steps to distance themselves from remarks” like the ones Israeli Deputy Public Security Minister Gideon Ezra made last week on Israel Television.
