Israel honored an opera diva and a rap-music mogul. At an event marking Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, Israel’s consul general in New York, Alon Pinkas, announced Tuesday night that trees had been planted in Israel to honor Jessye Norman and Russell Simmons.
