Despite a Jewish-sounding name, Levi Leipheimer — the second American to finish the Tour de France behind winner Lance Armstrong — is not a “member of the tribe.” The local Jewish federation buzzed with rumors that Leipheimer is Jewish, but the Santa Rosa, Calif., resident is Protestant, according to bike shop owners who are Leipheimer’s friends.
