The poet laureate of New Jersey is ignoring calls to quit for reading a poem insinuating that Israel knew in advance about the Sept. 11 attacks. New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey called for Amiri Baraka’s resignation after Baraka read the following at a festival earlier this month: “Who knew the World Trade Center was gonna get bombed/Who told 4,000 Israeli workers at the Twin Towers/To stay home that day/Why did Sharon stay away?”
