Israel’s Likud Party elected Cabinet minister Reuven Rivlin as its candidate for Knesset speaker. Rivlin, who has the backing of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, is expected to be unopposed when the Knesset votes in secret ballot Wednesday for the next speaker.
