Seventy-one percent of Palestinians support a joint cessation of violence with Israel, according to a new poll. But until there is one, 57 percent back armed attacks against Israeli civilians inside Israel. According to the joint survey of Israeli and Palestinian public opinion carried out by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah and the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, 70 percent of Palestinians believe a Palestinian government headed by Prime Minister Abu Mazen would be able to renew negotiations with Israel.
