Israel granted citizenship to a foreign player on the Maccabi Petach Tikva soccer team, clearing the way for him to play on Israel’s national team. Tuesday’s move could lead the way for Morad Megamedov’s participation in an upcoming match against Slovenia this weekend, Israel Radio reported. Interior Minister Avraham Poraz said he was recognizing Megamedov and two other athletes for their contribution to Israel.
