A fire destroyed a portion of a synagogue near New York City. Tuesday’s blaze at Temple Beth Am, caused by an electrical fire, destroyed administrative offices, an old sanctuary and half of the White Plains, N.Y. temple. The 400-family stone-and-wood temple belongs to the Reconstructionist movement.
