Rafael Scharf, a Krakow-born Jewish scholar who specialized on Polish Jewish issues, died this week in London at 89. Scharf, who left Poland in 1938, was a founder of the Oxford Center for Polish-Jewish Studies and the Judaica Foundation-Center for Jewish Culture in Krakow.
