The U.S. State Department asked Israel to consider the consequences of its airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. Department spokesman Adam Ereli said Tuesday that Israel should “take appropriate precautions to prevent the death or injury of innocent civilians and damage to civilian and humanitarian infrastructure.” But he also reiterated Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorist attacks.
