Howard Dean named Leon Fuerth, the Jewish former national security adviser to Vice President Al Gore, as chairman of his foreign policy advisers. An expert in arms control and non-proliferation, Fuerth is known to have guided Gore toward pro-Israel positions in Congress and at the White House, and likely will be a principal adviser to Dean on Middle Eastern matters.
