Israel’s outgoing ambassador to Hungary received Hungary’s highest cultural prize. Judit Varnai-Shorer received the Pro Cultura Hungarica prize Monday. Varnai-Shorer’s contribution to the establishment of the first Holocaust museum in Hungary, which opened earlier this year, “was most important. Without her contribution we could not have achieved this goal,” Hungary’s minister of cultural affairs, Istvan Hiller, said in the ceremony in Budapest.
