Rallies in Israel against Ariel Sharon’s disengagement plan drew far fewer people than organizers had predicted. Settler leaders said they expected half a million Israelis opposed to withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and West Bank to attend Thursday’s demonstrations in 100 cities and towns in Israel, but according to police sources and media reports turnout was far lower.
