News Brief

Eighty-five policemen reportedly were injured in Rome after clashes with soccer fans who chanted anti-Semitic slogans and held banners with swastikas. The violence occurred Sunday during a match between Lazio and Livorno. Some Lazio fans, who are known to be right-wingers, yelled “Jews, Jews” at the Livorno players, yet also yelled “Fedayeen,” referring to the assumed pro-Palestinian sympathies of Livorno fans.
