The influential chairwoman of a congressional subcommittee on the Middle East has Jewish roots. The mother of Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) was born Jewish and converted to Catholicism when she married, the Forward reported. Ros-Lehtinen’s grandfather, Jacobo Adato Levy, was a leader in Cuba’s Jewish community.
