The Shin Bet chief said Israel must not enter into a long-term truce with Hamas. In his first address to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee since the radical Islamic group began assuming power in the Palestinian Authority, Yuval Diskin said Israel now faces a “strategic threat” posed by Hamas.

A U.S. appeals court ordered a lower court to rule on whether an American citizen born in Jerusalem can have “Israel” alone inscribed as the place of birth. Last Friday’s decision sends the case involving a three-year-old American citizen back to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
