Two of the three women’s prisons in California are now served by a Jewish chaplain. Last week, Rabbi Levi Zirkind of Fresno was hired by the California Department of Corrections as the half-time chaplain serving the 30-40 Jewish inmates at two women’s prisons in Chowchilla, after years without such religious service.
