It’s time to do more than talk about religious coexistence and tolerance, a leading U.S. rabbi said. Arthur Schneier made his comments this week at the World Religious Summit conference in Moscow attended by some 200 clergymen from 40 nations. “We should reach out to religious seminaries and make sure that clergy is taught coexistence,” Schneier said. “If we don’t turn that around, then again each one of us will go his separate way.” He called on participants to start implementing principles that have been proclaimed at this and similar religious meetings. At the conference, everyone “said we have to fight extremism and we have to live together. We had this talk before. We have to move from dialogue to action,” Schneier told JTA after the conference.
