The Simon Wiesenthal Center urged members of a South American common market to condemn Iran’s president, who recently toured Latin America. The center sent letters to the foreign ministers of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, four of the five members of Mercosur, ahead of a summit of the trading bloc today and Friday in Brazil. The fifth member of Mercosur is Venezuela, where President Hugo Chavez is building increasingly close ties to Iran and its controversial president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
