Hezbollah denied Israeli charges that it recently mined part of the Lebanon-Israel border. The Lebanese terrorist militia issued a denial this week after Israel said its troops uncovered five landmines recently planted on its side of the border near Avivim. “These devices were planted before the last July war in the context of defensive measures to prevent ground attacks and incursions by the enemy’s army on Lebanese lands,” Hezbollah said in a statement, referring to its 34-day war with Israel last year. U.N. peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, who received a complaint from Israel about the mines, said their preliminary probe did not determine when the devices had been planted.
