Israeli lawmakers began hearings to discuss impeaching President Moshe Katsav. The Knesset House Committee met Wednesday, joined by Katsav attorney Zion Amir, The Jerusalem Post reported. If 19 of 25 committee members approve the impeachment, it will go before the Knesset, where at least 90 of the 120 members  would be needed to oust the president. Katsav, who faces charges including rape, has denied wrongdoing and said he would step down only if formally indicted. Attorney General Menachem Mazuz told Katsav last month that he intended to indict him. Katsav, who has been suspended, is entitled to a formal hearing before an indictment.
