Five Polish members of the European Parliament condemned a Polish colleague for publishing an anti-Semitic booklet. Last week, Maciej Giertych published a 32-page booklet bearing the European Parliament logo that claims Jews cannot integrate into society because of a need to remain separate. “Civilisations at War in Europe” also questions whether Jews are capable of evolving ethical behavior since the unchanging laws of the Torah are their guide. Giertych is the former leader of the League of Polish Families, a Catholic-oriented party now led by his son, Polish Education Minister Roman Giertych. “Giertych’s publication certainly does not represent the views of Poles, nor of the majority of Polish representatives in the European Parliament,” Bronislaw Geremek, Jan Kulakowski, Janusz Onyszkiewicz, Pawel Piskorski and Grazyna Staniszewska said in a statement.
