Mahmoud Abbas said he expected to meet Ehud Olmert within two weeks. The Palestinian Authority president, who held U.S.-sponsored talks with the Israeli prime minister Feb. 19, said Monday he expected another summit imminently. “We have agreed on a meeting soon, in one or two weeks, and we will continue our dialogue and consultations,” Abbas told reporters during a visit to Cairo. Olmert’s office had no immediate comment. The United States and Israel have voiced interest in continued contacts with Abbas despite the recent power-sharing deal his Fatah faction signed with Hamas, a terrorist group that is shunned by the West.
