A Ukrainian Jewish composer celebrated his 95th birthday with a
presentation of his latest album at a Jewish center in Kiev. Yakov Tzeglyar made the presentation of “Waltzes, Waltzes”
on Monday at Kiev’s Cinema House and at the Kinor Jewish community
center.
Known as the “King of Waltzes” in Ukraine, the Kiev native has written
two operas, several musical comedies and numerous waltzes. Many of his works are
based on Jewish themes, including the popular musical “OK, Moisha.”
