The Goodman Family Foundation gave a $2 million grant to the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center.

The grant, announced this week by museum officials, will help build a state-of-the-art, 65,000-square-foot facility in Skokie, Ill., slated to open later this year.

Museum officials anticipate that the facility will host 250,000 visitors a year from Illinois and the Midwest.

“When completed, the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center will truly be one of the premier Holocaust museums in the world,” said Larry Goodman. “It is an honor to contribute to this Museum and be a part of ensuring that the legacy of Holocaust survivors lives on to inspire action against acts of genocide and hatred for generations to come.”
