The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee-Israel won an Israel Prize. The JDC won one of this year’s prizes for its special contribution to Israeli society, Education Minister Yuli Tamir announced Sunday. JDC programs in Israel target groups including new immigrants, the elderly and those struggling to raise themselves out of poverty. Part of the New York-based JDC, which was established in 1914, it uses funds raised by North American Jewish federations.
