A Jewish component of a service for slain Virginia Tech students and faculty was delivered in English and Hebrew. As Sue Kurtz, identified by CNN as a Jewish community representative, read the well-known “to everything there is a season” passage from Ecclesiastes, an Israeli student read the passage simultaneously in Hebrew. A disaffected student went on a shooting spree Monday, killing 32 students and faculty members before killing himself. One of the victims was Liviu Librescu, an engineering professor who was a Holocaust survivor.
