The community relations arm of the organized American Jewish community admitted the Reconstructionist movement. The Jewish Council for Public Affairs made the decision to admit the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation on Monday at a board meeting.”We are very excited to welcome the Reconstructionist movement into the JCPA family as we work together to support Israel, stop the genocide in Darfur and work on behalf of the most vulnerable among us both internationally and domestically,” JCPA chair Lois Frank said in a statement.Carl Sheingold, the executive vice president of the Reconstructionist Federation, said the decision to join JCPA was made knowing the group’s commitment to tikkun olam, or repair of the world.”Working together and through JCPA we will best be able to accomplish our shared goals,” Sheingold said.
