Israeli special forces killed five Palestinian gunmen in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
Commandos crossed into central Gaza early Wednesday to search for Palestinian fugitives, coming under fire near the town of Khan Younis. A soldier was moderately wounded. The Israeli force returned fire, killing two Hamas gunmen and a third from the Popular Resistance Committees.
In the West Bank, Israeli paramilitary police raided the hideout of two Palestinian fugitives near Jenin. Both men were killed in the ensuing shootout. One was from Islamic Jihad and the other from Fatah.
